Frequently Asked Questions
Got any questions? We're here to help
In this section, you’ll find the most essential information about our platform, including comprehensive details on all its features and capabilities. If you can’t find an answer to your questions, feel free to reach out to us.
Is Aptus.AI’s platform based on proprietary technology and/or on open source technologies?
Aptus.AI’s platform is based on proprietary AI models with patents issued in Italy (2023) and in Europe (2024). The patents include the whole methodology used to transform documents in our machine-readable format, which is the key element to allow AI to read regulatory documents.
Where is the service located?
Our server is cloud-based and located in Ireland (Europe).
Does the platform provide for an interpretation of the external regulation? Do you provide legal advice?
Aptus.AI’s platform provides access to original regulatory sources. We do not provide legal advice. Our platform supports the users in the understanding of such norms and their impact on the organization.
Do you support integration with GRC Systems? Do you support integration with internal normatives tools?
We are open to evaluate integrations with other systems. We have a number of partners that can also support this kind of activity.
Is the database multilingual?
Our proprietary technology is language independent and some features, such as Aptus.Chat (our Generative AI service), make it possible to produce output independently from the input language (es. Aptus.Chat could be used to chat with a document in English by asking questions in Italian and receiving the answer in French). Currently the platform contains documents in the original language available as published by the supported issuers.
Which regulatory areas do you support?
Our proprietary machine-readable format can be applied to any kind of regulatory document and area. However, following our history and our commercial strategy, as of today we are focused on the financial industry, hence some aspects of our platform have been developed on the basis of financial institutions compliance methodology (such as the regulatory areas taxonomy).
Is it possible to add new legal sources? How much effort is needed to do so?
We can consider the monitoring of new legal sources. The level (and timing) of effort depends on the specific legal source you want to add. We have a list of document types supported that should be considered in order to evaluate what of these new legal sources will be available in the platform. Also, the content of some legal source can be private and in that case we need to evaluate the terms of conditions to avoid breach of your agreement with the provider.
How frequent is the alert? Which is the delay with respect to the publication date of the issuing body?
Aptus.Alerting is a near-real time service. We send daily alerts, the next available working day after the official publication date.
Does Aptus.Chat use OpenAI’s GPT-4 LLM system?
Aptus.Chat leverages multiple LLM systems (among which OpenAI’s GPT-4). Regardless of the LLM used, our added value is the transformation of legal documents in our machine-readable format which enforce the accuracy of the answers produced by the Generative AI technology.
How do you make sure your Generative AI is hallucination-free?
The quality of the answers generated by Aptus.Chat is primarily linked to two factors. The first one is the machine-readable format of the documents available on our platform: by transforming the document in a format readable by the AI we are capable of providing the LLM systems with non-textual elements, in addition to the text content, which enhance the context available to generate an answer. The second main factor is the RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) process, according to which our AI models identify the text law part(s) more pertinent to the question asked by the user to be used by the LLM system to generate the answer: in this way, the answer generated by Aptus.Chat is proven to be a re-elaboration of official regulatory content. Furthermore, it should be noted that the quality of the answers is strictly related to the quality of the questions formulated, in terms of input provided, user’s specific context and how questions are written.
Does the chat provide interpretation?
Generative AI services re-elaborate the underlying context. In the case of Aptus.Chat, the context is limited to regulatory documents, so the chat is able to rework this content depending on the prompt received.
Which kind of documents can be easily transformed into a machine-readable format? Which would be the guidelines to draft a machine-readable internal document?
The main requirements refer to the possibility of properly using the Word format with structured index, to the availability of metadata such as the internal processes, the risks, the owners, the internal references and the versioning. However, this is a case-by-case analysis, since there is always the need to understand how to structure the solution and the flow depending on the output desired.
