Principal Research Scientist

Aptus.AI's team develops next-generation technologies that revolutionise how people access legal documents by changing how humans and machines interact with regulations. This requires a passionate and multidisciplinary team with an open-minded attitude that is creative and adaptable.

Our RegTech product, Daitomic, monitors and analyses thousands of legal documents daily from various sources in real time to help financial companies keep up with regulatory changes and updates. This system handles massive amounts of information, making it suitable for human decision-making.

That’s why we are looking for a talented and motivated Principal Research Scientist to join us in building a brighter, more accessible future for legal services. As the Principal Research Scientist at Aptus.AI, you will play a critical role in establishing and driving our research activities. You will be responsible for setting up a team of top-notch researchers and engineers, defining research goals, and overseeing the development of innovative AI technologies to disrupt the legal industry in collaboration with the office of the CTO.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic research roadmap to advance AI-based legal technologies;
  • Assemble, lead, and mentor a team of researchers and engineers focused on developing state-of-the-art AI solutions for the legal domain;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into product development;
  • Establish partnerships with academic institutions and industry leaders to drive innovation and thought leadership;
  • Communicate research findings through high-quality publications, conference presentations, and technical blog posts;
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, natural language processing, and machine learning, and incorporate relevant techniques into our research pipeline;
  • Monitor project progress, ensure timely delivery, and continuously evaluate research direction for alignment with company objectives.

Minimum qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, with a focus on natural language processing, machine learning, or a relevant sub-discipline;
  • Minimum of 8 years of research experience in AI, with a strong publication record in top-tier conferences and journals;
  • Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing research teams;
  • Deep understanding of the latest AI and machine learning techniques, with experience applying these methods to real-world problems;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences;
  • Strong programming skills in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar tools and frameworks;
  • Familiarity with legal concepts, terminology, and applications is a plus
